Balurghat, July 25: The authority of Balurghat Central Correctional home today provided booster dose for corona vaccine to the inmates of the home.
Notably, as part of that initiative, the first and second doses of the corona vaccine were given earlier at the Balurghat Central Correctional Home.
It is known that the authority has taken the initiative to give this booster dose to 803 inmates of Balurghat Central Correctional home.
“At present 803 inmates are residing at Balurghat Central Correctional Home. Of them, the third dose of vaccination was provided to 315 inmates on Monday. Of 315 inmates, 280 inmates received Covishield booster dose while the rest of 35 inmates received Covaxin booster dose,” said Navin Kujur, superintendent of BCCH.
According to sources, total number of 28 BCCH personnel were provided the booster dose on the same day. Kujur said that the next camp would be organised on August 12 to provide the same dose to the rest of the inmates and the BCCH personnel.
It has been learnt that the Department of Correctional Administration, Government of West Bengal has taken up a special attention to vaccinate the inmates of BCCH. With the help of the District Magistrate of South Dinajpur and the office of Chief Medical Officer of Health, the camp was organised for the inmates for the booster dose. “The health care of the inmates is being taken up with utmost priority so that none of them would be deprived from getting the primary health facility,” added Kujur.
