Buniadpur : A team of the district administration led by district magistrate Bijin Krishna visited the Eklabya Model Residential School located in the Banshihari block under Gangarampur sub-division on july 14. The team included senior level officials including superintendent of police Rahul Dey, additional district magistrate Bibek Kumar,sub-divisional officer of Gangarampur P Pramath and others. The team inspected the accommodation of the students, meals, sanitation and arrangement of drinking water etc.
Banshihari is around 55 km from Balurghat, district headquarter of South Dinajpur.
Later talking to the media Bijin Krishna said,” with the aim to raise this school to the level of one of the best schools in the district as well as state we made an inspection today. There are some problems which need to be addressed. As far as infrastructure is concerned there are some urgent needs for minor repairing works. Huge scope of improvement is there .Man power requirement is also there .Actually ,due to covid pandemic there has been a gap in the academic sphere of the school. We are hopeful that these problems will be sorted out in the coming days. Eklavya Model Residential School is a government of India scheme for model residential school for scheduled Tribes across India. Each district is expected to have at least one such school . It was introduced to ensure tribal students to get quality education in the remote areas. The Eklavya Model residential School in South Dinajpur was set up in 2012. The school is providing is co-educational and is being managed by the social welfare department
