Early release ‘bonanza’ for prisoners on 75 years of Independence

Balurghat, 15August : What could have been a better gift than this. Binay Sarkar (name changed )is amongst those 8 inmates who would spend night sleeping inside own house from today and not behind the bars anymore as he along with seven inmates were released today from Balurghat Correctional Facility on 75th Independence Day for their good gestures while in correctional home . They were sentenced for various types of crimes and were serving jail term. They were released today on the 75th Independence Day from the Balurghat correctional home. Biplab Mitra, Minister of Consumer Protection Department of West Bengal Government was present.
On this day, these eight prisoners came out holding the minister’s hand. The released prisoners couldn’t hold back their happiness. These prisoners said that they would return to their healthy and normal lives in the coming days. “No other gift could be better than this. From today I am completely free. I can’t express my happiness on my release “said one of those prisoners who were released from the correctional home. “As gift from the government on 75 years of independence eight inmates were released from Balurghat correctional home for their good gestures”said Nabin Kujur, superintendent of Balurghat correctional home.
