Balurghat, 10 December:International Human Rights Day was observed today at Teor Kishan Mandi in Hili Block.
Every year since 1948, 10th December day is celebrated worldwide with due dignity and importance. This year, the theme of Human Rights Day 2022 is “Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All”.
A workshop was also organized on this occasion to raise awareness about the social, cultural, physical rights of people and ensure the welfare of all on today’s special day under the initiative of Dakshin Dinajpur District Legal Services Authority and under the management of Ujjivan Society.
Human rights are those fundamental rights that no human being can be oppressed or deprived of regardless of caste, religion, caste, sex.
Today’s workshop was mainly attended by students of Balurghat Law College, students of Netaji Subhash Open University, legal assistants of Dakshin Dinajpur District Legal Services Authority, active workers of Ujjivan Society and many others.
Social worker Suraj Das was the main speaker in this workshop today. Lawyer Debangana Ghosh Dastidar, prodhan, Binshira Gram Panchayat Manik Lal Mahato, veteran philanthropist Sushant Das, Biswajit Mahato, Ujjivan Society activists Chanchal Mandal, Rajesh Mohant, Amal Mandal, Krishna Mali, Nihar Pal, Rumpa Mahat, Debashis Sarkar and others and Secretary of South Dinajpur District Legal Services Authority, Sangeeta Chatterjee were the dignitaries present at the workshop.
