Balurghat,20 September: “The state women commission remains alert always and tries to reach out to the women in distress in the far flung on a minimum information available. Once the commission gets any input regarding child marriage or any type of violence being unleashed on women, the commission does its job in its own avenue in collaboration with the administration” chairperson of West Bengal Commission for Women Leena Ganguly said this in Balurghat today while talking regarding the role of women commission for the safety of the women in the state.
She said,” the commission whenever and wherever necessary extends its assistance to the distressed. We want to make the women aware of the benefit to contact the commission in need like early marriage, domestic violence, women trafficking etc. That is why we are organizing special sessions and workshop to motivate the women here in the district.”
Earlier, a workshop on domestic violence and mental health was organized in the presence of Leena Gangopadhyay, chairperson of the West Bengal Women’s Commission at Baluchaya Hall in Balurghat of Dakshin Dinajpur Dinajpur . yesterday too, a similar workshop was organized at Hili.
Students of various schools and colleges and other administrative officials participated. The enthusiasm of all present around this meeting was visible.
