The district administration of South Dinajpur started distribution of school uniforms for the school students of the district through a ceremony held today at BM High school in Balurghat where uniforms were handed over to the students of the school. Bijin Krishna, Additional District Magistrate Shubashis Bej, PD DRDC Sabyasachi Roy, Balurghat Block BDO Anuj Shikder and others were present on the occasion.
Similar distribution ceremony was held at Balurghat high school where Bipulkanti Ghosh, Mahesh Parekh and chairman Ashok Mitra were present.In another programme, school uniforms were distributed amongst the students of Bhatpara gram panchayet area by members of self help groups like Bhatpara Samaj Kalyan Mahila Sangha and Bahumukhi Samabay Samity.
state government has taken a special initiative this year to make women self-help groups of the state self-reliant.
The school uniforms would be provided by the women of various self-help groups to the students in the government run schools this year in South Dinajpur as well as in the other districts .
According to sources, around 5000 women were engaged in the preparation of school uniform in the district.
