Balurghat, July 19:They are seen on the roads discharging duties under the scorching sun or in the rains. They are the traffic police personnel and civic volunteers who control the traffic standing alone on roads . To protect them from the heat and sun, umbrellas and water bottles, ORS were distributed by police Balurghat police station.
Shantinath Panja, IC,Balurghat police station, traffic OC Babul Hossain,DSP traffic Bilbamangal Saha visited different traffic points of Balurghat and handed over bottles and umbrellas to the traffic personnel.
In addition, toto drivers on the roads were also provided with ORS.
DSP Bilbamangal Saha said, “the personnel engaged in traffic- control duty have to perform their duties in this unfavourable weather condition. They have been given umbrellas and water bottles considering their physical conditions. Such initiative is presently underway at different places across the district”.
