Kushmandi, 10 August :The Mamata Banerjee-led state government has always been keen to revive and promote the traditional folk art of South Dinajpur district since the beginning. As a part of this,a workshop was organized by the Kushmondi block at Kushmondi of South Dinajpur district today.
Kushmandi is around 70 km from Balurghat.
‘Khan’ The Folk form is a unique Folk culture form typical to the ‘Dinajpur’ region. It is an age-ole folk-cultural form practised by the rural people of the District. Presently Khan songs are centralized at Kushmandi and Banshihari regions of South Dinajpur.
Amarjyoti Sarkar, BDO Kushmandi, District Information Culture Officer Rajesh Kumar Mandal, prominent philanthropist Ambaris Sarkar and other dignitaries were present. Senior Khan singers performed Khan songs in this workshop. District Information Culture Officer Rajesh Mandal said “Lokprasar project was one of the projects that were started from the beginning of this government. With the inspiration of the Hon’ble Chief Minister this workshop was organized today as a part of this Lokprasar project”.
